About Silver Thread Reiki

Silver Thread Reiki’s mission is to reveal the inner healer within every individual by gently identifying emotional imbalances in order to heal them for a sustained high quality of life on all levels.

Silver Thread Reiki was established by Reiki Master Cathi Basler in 2020 as a response to the COVID crisis. While Cathi has been practicing Reiki healing informally for many years, she decided to more formally offer her services after she retired from health care. Silver Thread Reiki has a studio based in New Castle, Colorado, and Cathi will travel throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and the Western Slope of Colorado depending upon special circumstances. Cathi also performs distance healing all over the world (for example, she has supported victims of sexual assault during court appearances while testifying against their attackers in the Denver Metro area).

Cathi is a Reiki Master who has been studying healing energy work for over 8 years, having moved through three levels of Reiki, including a focus in Karuna Reiki, and receiving Master Certification. Cathi is passionately offering Reiki to the community so she can truly help people begin to heal.

Cathi’s background has always been related to helping people heal. She worked in nursing education and as a solid organ transplant nurse, which led her to graduate school to become an Adult/Geriatric Nurse Practitioner. She then worked as a sub-investigator for HIV Treatment and Prevention Clinical research trials for 22 years.

During her time as a researcher, Cathi began to notice that more and more of her patients were asking for intangible reassurance beyond medications; a need that western medication wasn’t designed to meet. When her husband became very ill with esophageal cancer, she saw that western medicine wasn’t able to help. These events influenced her to begin exploring Integrative Medicine, including cranial sacral therapy.

When COVID hit, Cathi worked in the ICU as a researcher, and witnessed first-hand the impact of the virus on every individual. She quickly realized there would be a collective case of PTSD for the generations experiencing the impact of COVID.

Since retiring, Cathi has been dedicated to supporting psychologically wounded individuals to begin to find their way back to whatever a “normal” life may look like post-COVID. She believes the only way to heal this country is by grassroots efforts within each community, and offering Reiki is her way of trying to help people begin to heal.

When Cathi isn’t healing her community, she volunteers her time as a Board Member and active volunteer for a local animal shelter.

Just for today, I will be grateful
Just for today, I will be happy
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I will respect and be kind to all living things

— Mikao Usui

About Reiki

Reiki (ray-key) is a healing method that was developed in Japan early in the last century by Mikao Usui (1865-1926). Reiki is a technique that aids the body in releasing stress and tension by creating deep relaxation. Because of this, Reiki promotes healing and health.

The Reiki method of healing was founded on the revelation and understanding of the body’s energy system. Reiki Practitioners strive to improve health and quality of life by offering Reiki energy and restoring balance. Reiki is used in self-care, for the care of one’s family, and is offered in private practice and in hospitals and medical settings as an adjunct and supportive therapy to wellness and traditional medical care.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "the Wisdom of God/the Higher Power" and Ki which means “Life Force Energy” - so Reiki translates to “Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy.” The Reiki system of healing is a technique for transmitting this subtle energy to yourself and others through the hands into the human energy system. Reiki restores energy balance and vitality by relieving the physical and emotional effects of unreleased stress. It gently and effectively opens blocked meridians, nadas and chakras, and clears the energy bodies, leaving one feeling relaxed and at peace.

The form of Reiki that many people practice today, Usui Reiki, has been in use for over one hundred years. The genius of Reiki is that practitioners can utilize it to help heal themselves and for their own wellness and enhanced well-being. In fact, working on self-healing is a prerequisite for offering Reiki healing to others. Modern Reiki Masters can offer Reiki energy to others through gentle static pressure using the specific traditional Reiki hand positions, and even over long distances prayer is offered. Reiki healing complements many medicinal therapies and traditional medicine and can be used to help assist in the potential healing of suffering from pain, illness, disease and more.
